Cookie Policy
Last updated:
In short: this site uses no cookies, neither mine nor third parties’, and runs no analytics or advertising. So you have nothing to accept: there is no consent banner, because nothing depends on one.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file that a site stores in your browser and that can be sent back to the server on every visit; it is used, for example, to recognise you or follow your browsing. The law (the ePrivacy Directive and Portugal’s Law 41/2004) also covers similar technologies, such as the browser’s local and session storage.
2. What this site stores on your device
| Name | Where | What for | When it is written | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|
moises-os |
The browser’s local storage | To remember that you turned the site’s sound off | Only when you turn the sound off; it is deleted when you turn it back on | Until you delete it or turn the sound back on |
moises-os:booted |
The browser’s session storage | To remember that you have already seen the entry animation, so it does not repeat when you reload the page | When the entry animation finishes | Until you close the tab |
These two items stay only in your browser: they are not sent to me or to anyone else, they do not identify you and they are not used for analytics or marketing. Apart from these, the site stores nothing.
3. Why your consent is not needed
Both serve only a feature you asked for or that makes browsing simpler (remembering your sound choice and not repeating the intro), they are minimal, they track nothing and they never leave your device. Under these conditions the law does not require consent (Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC).
4. Third parties
This site loads nothing from third parties: the typefaces are hosted on the site itself and there is no analytics, advertising, video, map or embedded social network. So no third party sets cookies through it.
The site is delivered through Cloudflare (see the Privacy Policy). Cloudflare only sets cookies if its bot-detection or security-challenge features are on, and I do not use them. If I ever turn them on, it would be a strictly necessary security cookie and I will update this page first.
The links to LinkedIn, GitHub and the University of Aveiro only take you elsewhere when you click them; those sites have their own cookie policies.
5. How to delete or control them
- Sound: turn it back on with the sound button (SFX) in the taskbar and the preference is deleted.
- Everything: in your browser settings you can delete “site data” and the local and session storage (in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, under “Privacy” or “Browsing data”). A private window also keeps nothing once you close it.
6. Changes
If I ever use analytics or third-party services that store information on your device, I will update this page and the Privacy Policy before turning them on, and I will only switch them on after you give your consent. The date at the top says when this page last changed.
